چکیده
The main theme of this conference is “Cuba: Ten Years after the Announcement of Economic Reforms.” The principal policy change announced in 1993 for the agricultural sector was the breakup of the state monopoly on land. To replace most state farms, a new form of agricultural organization was established: the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (Unidad Básica de Producción Cooperativa, UBPC).1

Remote Sensing Images in Support of Environmental Protocol: Monitoring the Sugarcane Harvest in São Paulo State, Brazil
Traditional manual sugarcane harvesting requires the pre-harvest burning practice which should be gradually banned by 2021 for most of São Paulo State, Brazil, on cultivated sugarcane land (terrain slope ≤ 12%) according to State Law number 11241. To forward the end of this practice to 2014, a “Green Ethanol” Protocol was established in 2007. The present work aims at analyzing five years of con...

متن کاملPre-harvest Application of Roundup and Fusilade Super as a Minimum Tillage Technique for Sugarcane
Ten field experiments, in which high rates of Roundup (glyphosate, 410g ailQ) and Fusilade Super (fluazifop-butyl, 125 g ailQ) were sprayed onto sugarcane cropsshortly before harvest, were carried out over a period of two years. Changes in cane quality were measured and regrowth of the subsequent ratoon was assessed. Treatment with Fusilade Superdid not result in an acceptable kill of the stool...
متن کاملA Review on Red Rot: The “Cancer” of Sugarcane
Saccharum spp. (Sugarcane) is an important cash crop cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It is valuable mainly because of its ability to store high concentrations of sucrose, or sugar, in the stem and more recently for the production of ethanol, which is an important renewable biofuel source [1,2]. Globally, sugarcane is an important source of commercial sugar accountin...
متن کاملIdentification, Phylogeny, and Transcript of Chitinase Family Genes in Sugarcane
Chitinases are pathogensis-related proteins, which play an important role in plant defense mechanisms. The role of the sugarcane chitinase family genes remains unclear due to the highly heterozygous and aneuploidy chromosome genetic background of sugarcane. Ten differentially expressed chitinase genes (belonging to class I~VII) were obtained from RNA-seq analysis of both incompatible and compat...
